This song is about losing someone we love and how they are now in heaven watching over us. The lyrics talk about being at peace and free from pain. This song can help you find comfort by visualizing your Mom finding comfort and being at peace with an angel.
Many artists have covered this song. Leonard Cohen originally wrote the song about the loss of a lover. However, you can also apply it to the loss of a parent. The lyrics feel bittersweet and are not as encouraging as other songs, but it describes the feelings of deep grief and loss.

[Verse]I never found out why you walked awayAnd never said good-byeBut now that I see youI'm torn inside, but I've still got my prideI understand that some things are better left unsaidI'm afraid of the truthBut what can I do if I still want youIf we could start over againI know if we try our love could be strongerIf we could start over againI'm sure, we ohWe'd never have to let goFor so many years nowI've held inside things I meant to sayBut faced with the past now I realizeI can't let that stand in our wayI never knew that a love so strong would never fadeBut what can we doIf I still want youAnd you want me too
Speaking of your father daughter dance, a softer reimagining of this Guns N' Roses rocker might be just the ticket - the beauty being that the lyrics express a pure love which could just as easily be about a parent and child as a husband and wife:
Steinman's many fans include Lost producer Javier "Javi" Grillo-Marxuach, who aptly captures the epic nature of the songwriter's vision: "every song a three act play. every emotion a grand opera. doesn't matter if it's celine dion, meat loaf, or the sisters of mercy on the mic: a jim steinman song is always its own magnificent beast. rest in peace to the maximalist supreme."
Third, just as the background stories of Olympic athletes take away coverage time of actual events, it seems the same is true at "AI." We get tiny bits and pieces of auditions because of the incredible amount of time provided to life stories. If I want life stories I'll start watching Oprah or one of the other thousand talk shows.
Does anyone know if they only had a few songs to chose from? I just don't understand how you could pick 'Sweet Escape' and think you would actually go through to the next round. That's a terrible song to do as a group. The lyrics are too fast and it doesn't really showcase your abilities to sing. Just a thought!
Group night is my favorite. I love all of the unnecessary stress. It doesn't matter how much turmoil there is in your group - all you need to do is sing well. I don't know why so many of the contestants get stressed over the choreography, or who quit practice early or hasn't woken up yet, or whether another group is copying them. Practice the song, learn the lyrics, sing it well. There's nothing your group mates can do that can interfere with that plan, because it doesn't involve them. The only thing the judges care about is the singing. No one has ever gotten the boot because of their group's choreography. And you may have noticed that the judges said absolutely nothing about both Lady Gaga groups going a cappella. See? All that stress for nothing.
I started over from the ground up on it. I wanted a better mix and up the tempo a little to give it more snap. It's an R&B type tune that's got a lot going on in it and I will probably be tweaking it for a couple of weeks and definitely re-recording the vocals in places. Thanks for checking it out. 2b1af7f3a8
